Single Case Binding with Ann Kenny

A “case binding” is what most people think of as a “hardback” book. A case binding is made up of a section or multiple sections set between a hard front and back cover and a spine.

In this workshop, Ann will guide you through the steps of making a slim case binding teaching the sewing technique used to create a three-hole pamphlet. 

Course participants will be encouraged to consider notebook design and paper combinations for the covers and endpapers.

There is no need to bring anything, everything is provided. You come with nothing and go home with a beautifully handcrafted book.

Ann is visiting us from Wexford for a couple of workshops and we are very happy to welcome her. She is doing a Clamshell box class in the morning, a box that will hold this book. Why not come for the full day and go home with book in a box !

Ann Kenny is a freelance illustrator, print artist and book maker. Her
practice explores the interplay between words, pictures, and stories
through the medium of the book. She writes, illustrates, and hand-binds
books and creates limited edition artist’s books, picture books, wordless
books and commissioned illustrations.
