Block Printing with Beta Franca

This workshop is about wrapping using the print blocks and collage over a theme.
It'll cover different potentials and challenges presented by the medium, such as:
. choosing the right paper and suitable colours to go with it
. working with two or more colours in one print
. overlapping the same prints in different colours
. basic principles of composition.
The focus of the workshop is on how to look at the print blocks and on exploring different ways of using them - they are graphic elements to create a composition, from a simple or a complex pattern, to a scene that tells a story. So plenty of time should go into playing with the blocks and papers and colours, while developing your theme, before putting it together on your wrapping product.

At the end of the workshop you'll be going home with patterned wrapping paper, a card and envelope, a bag, a tag, or as many of these items you manage to create within the time of the workshop.

About Beta: Originally from Brazil, Beta came to Ireland over 25 years ago. She is an architect, sculptor, graphic designer, singer and artist.  She is inspirational and there is nothing more that she enjoys than sharing this in her workshops.
